Amber Carly Williams, the talented singer-songwriter from Ōtautahi, is set to release her highly anticipated new single "Don’t Know Vertigo" on May 24th. This new track follows the success of her debut EP, "21 Roses," released in November 2023.

"Don’t Know Vertigo" was co-written with Noema Te Hau during Big Fan’s songwriting camp in May last year. The collaboration between Amber and Noema was seamless, resulting in the song being written and produced in just one day.

Amber Carly Williams shares that "Don’t Know Vertigo" is an intimate and deeply personal track about her relationship with a close family member. “This song is about my relationship with a close family member. The feeling of not being deeply heard, but making excuses for them because of the hardship this person has encountered in their life. I wrote Don’t Know Vertigo as an expression for the anxieties and trauma that I hold onto because of the projection of my parent (big feelings). We naturally look up to our parents as they were the ones who raised us, so growing up and realizing that they don’t have everything figured out is a pretty strange thing.”

Amber and Noema met through a mutual friend a couple of years ago and finally got the chance to work on a song together thanks to Big Fan’s songwriting camp. With the additional help of Aubrie, another Big Fan producer who played some piano parts, Amber and Noema created a soundscape that is both dreamy and honest, fitting perfectly into Amber’s unique style.

"Don’t Know Vertigo" encapsulates Amber’s newest sound, featuring elements of simplicity and vulnerability. This track will appeal to fans of The Japanese House, Ethel Cain, and The Paper Kites, highlighting Amber's evolution and potential in the indie/dream-pop scene of Aotearoa.

As an independent artist, Amber has self-funded all her music projects. This single marks another milestone in her journey, showcasing her ability to produce, edit, and promote her music independently. From recording a live version in her backyard to designing the cover art, Amber’s dedication to her craft is evident.
